Starting the voyage........Channel crossing

The voyage started in May from the Hamble, in cold misty conditions. The first attempt to leave England was thwarted by banks of thick fog rolling in and blanking out the Needles (if only we had radar). However the next morning we had a good sail to Cherbourg and spent a day enjoying French cuisine. Silver Tryst was proving very enjoyable with it's little luxuries, like the on-board shower, cutting out the cold walk to the expensive and dirty marina toilet blocks.

On to Guernsey, and St Peter Port marina.

Guernsey and especially Herm were old favourites and we planned to stay 2days, but aided by almost 5 days of constant Force 7's, ended up berthing for a week. Who can resist the duty free chandlers, good fresh food and local beers.

Having just left a very stressful job, the pressure to meet deadlines and targets was not very easy to forget. However our self imposed plans to shoot down to the Med seemed less important by the day.

A forecast of Force 5 to 6 from the right direction persuaded us to voyage to Treguier
